As you may or may not know, I am single. Yay!!! I am currently anxiously awaiting my arrival in Edinburgh. I move there on September 1 (the day my mother is also anxiously awaiting). haha. Can't wait to get everything squared away with the Uni staff. So much to do...visa, class choices, accommodation (still waiting to hear about my future housing), medical information gathered, US finances squared away, new clothes for the move...a MUST.
Sadly it is also looking like my lovely computer for the past 3 years may be dying. She was recently knocked off a counter onto an extremely inflexible tile floor. Poor thing required emergency "surgery". She is now back together and working somewhat as is indicated by the fact I am writing this blog. Please pray for her as she is basically family...and new ones are oh so expensive.
Jackson is interesting. Everyone is married, pregnant, divorced, etc. Clearly they are all in the "family-starting/ending" stages of their lives. This is interesting due to 1/2 of them being my age. I try to only drink bottled water so as to avoid the bacteria Marriage Too-earlyus that is clearly contaminating the water of Jackson, MS (haha, jk). Marriage is nowhere on my radar, so I think these people are freaking me out. I also am somewhat offended by the stares I receive from those with whom I discuss my future plans. I know it sounds extremely nerdy to say "oh, I'm moving to Edinburgh to obtain my Masters in Global Public Health Policy." So sue me. I have goals and dreams that don't involved marriage and/or kids. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE those some day, but not now. I can't financially support myself until I get a permanent JOB...much less other people. (Sorry to vent, but now that that is off my shoulders I'm good to go!)
I will be back soon!

New Body in Progress
So my goal before moving to Scotland is to trim up and get tan. Haha for the tanning part. If you have seen me lately (or really during the past 5 years) you know I NEVER go in the sun. Have no fear. An eight foot kiddie pool was recently purchased at Wal-Mart for a whopping $12. A flotation device was purchased for $1.97 in order to better absorb the sunshine.
Tomorrow is my day off, so i plan to go register at the YMCA for the summer. They have aerobics, weights, cardio, etc. Everything a girl could need to get her butt in shape. After registering I plan to practice my flotation skills. By September 1, I better be slim, trim, and slightly colored. Ha! Wish me luck!!

Day in Vicksburg!
I got to see some of my family in Vicksburg today. Sooo fun! We hung out all day at Aunt Dale's house. Today could not have been any hotter. A trip to Wal-Mart was the icing on the cake. Wal-Mart will truly be missed after I move. But don't worry, Wal-Mart owns ASDA in the UK.
Not the same, but I can pretend.
Everyone is full of questions about my move to Scotland. My grandmother is concerned I will be kidnapped. haha. My aunts seem to be really excited for me!

Welcome!
I have decided to start a blog to detail my move to and life in Scotland.
So far everything is going somewhat smoothly. I have been working on getting my financing and funding organized and completed. The university currently has the information to finish this up.
Once this is done I will apply for my student visa. I have to apply at least a month before I leave. The scary part about this process is they want your whole life history pretty much. They also want proof of your finances. haha. So once I get all the required materials together, I will send them basically a book about my life.
September 1 is the day I will move to my new home and begin my sojourn. Please feel free to book a ticket to Edinburgh at anytime during the 12 months I am there.
I will have a webcam in order to "skype" with anyone who would like to chat. My nieces and my mother will have one, so feel free to join in the fun. Victoria is seriously concerned about not getting to see me while I am in Scotland.
More to come later!!
